Al Carter is Senior Managing Director at ACA. He is a results oriented professional who has provided leadership to companies requiring turnaround, restructuring, or strategic redirection for over 25 years. During his career Al has worked successfully with senior lenders, management teams, and private equity firms on a variety of significant projects including interim management, mergers and acquisitions, day to day operations, crisis management and bankruptcy proceedings. He is an agile thinker with the style and temperament to develop confidence with stakeholders in difficult situations. He is also highly regarded for his professional integrity, diplomacy, and discretion.

 Al is experienced in all of the activities critical to a successful business turnaround including asset sales, negotiations with suppliers, staff and labor expense reductions, lease re-negotiation and facility closings, capital restructuring, budget development and cash management.   Analytical skills that foster the timely identification of problems and the development of clear objectives and achievable plans are critical traits that Al brings to engagements. An important foundation for Al's consulting insight and skill is his substantial hands on operating experience in CEO and COO roles with mid-sized companies dealing with financial distress. He has developed and led firms through significant cost reduction initiatives, negotiated terms and settlements with suppliers, and executed forbearance agreements. Al has also guided the out-of-court balance sheet restructuring process and he has participated in Chapter 11 re-organization proceedings, the acquisition of DIP financing, and 363 asset sales.

Al earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and is magna cum laude graduate of Paine College with a BS in Business Administration. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the National Funding Association. He has also earned the Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) designation.
